So I get this call from Virgin telling me about this special offer where the initial joining fee is reduced to R100 for the month. I really wanted to start getting healthier so I thought it was a good deal.
I then ask the salesperson how long the contract is for and how much it will cost. He tells me R379 for a year long contract and like an, I agree to pay the initial fee before I read the contract myself.
Here's where it gets interesting. I read the contract only to find the contract is for a 2 year membership and not only that, I can only enter the gym between 08h00 and 17h00 (something the salesman conveniently left out of our chat on the phone.) So I don't sign and let him know I wont. A few days later, the membership fee is debited off my account.
Amazing! I have a contract with Virgin even though I did not sign anything! I have since had to send a cancellation letter (cancelling the contract I never signed!) and await my refund. I just want to bring this to someones attention but I don't think I could ever do business with Virgin Active again. This is down-right unethical.
