My car was serviced on its service plan at Suzuki Hatfield in May last year, at about 35000 km's, so I did not pay for the standard service. The service centre called me to tell me that my brake pads and wiper blades needed to be replaced, which I refused. I asked for a quote for the additional work, as I may have had it done at a later stage. Upon collection, I received a quote for replacing break pads, "as there was only 20% left on them", as well as replacing the wiper blades. Parts and labour came to about R2 500.
This past weekend, eight months and 10 000 km's later, I had wheel alignment and balancing done at a tyre fitment centre. I asked them to please check the brake pads, as I was told 10 000 km's before that I needed to replace them. The first person to check them told me that there was still 70% left on the pads, which was confirmed by another two people. I wasn't surprised, as I normally drive very slowly and on my previous car only replaced brake pads once. I have also not ever had a problem with my windscreen wipers?!
I know Suzuki Hatfield will just blame their (Nissan) service centre, but hopefully this post prevents someone from being defrauded by this outlet.
