My Totoyta Fortuner had a breakdown 88 days after purchasing the vehicle from McCarthy Toyota Centurion with a warrantee.
The nearest Toyota dealer was in Linden where they assessed the car and said that just the labour for a gearbox (that the failure could be) is R 3, 500 and my "warrantee only covers R5, 000 in total.
I phoned the manager at McCarthy Toyota Centurion (Ion du Preez) to ask that they tow the car to their workshop and do the repairs as according to the consumer protection act (CPA) I should be protected against the sale of faulty items.
His reply is "I do not work with the CPA and if you do not like it you can talk to the ombudsman".
I do not think this attitude is fair and believe it is not lawful either. I paid a premium for buying a vehicle at a dealership thinking that it stands for something, obviously McCarthy is just another bunch second hand car.
