Mccarthy
Resell Value on New Vehicle

I am extremely concerned about the level to which my new Toyota Corolla has depreciated since I bought it in March 2013. I am now in the position to upgrade my Corolla 2D EXCLUSIVE to at least a Rav4 or a second hand Toyota Fortuner, and have visited three separate McCarthy and Automark dealerships - Edenvale, Arcadia and Automark Centurion.

At all three places, they suggest that the repurchase value of the vehicle is only R175000, whereas my settlement is R290000. This is extremely unacceptable, for a vehicle with only 9000km on the odometer, and supposedly top of the range.

This means for me two things: the dealership in Midrand was not fair to me in explaining that the vehicle would depreciate so much (and even oversold a vehicle in terms of features which I am not satisfied with), and Toyota is not able to keep its promise that its vehicle holds value.

At least an honest "we cannot help you" would have made a difference, but it seems customer loyalty is not one of Toyota's values.

I logged a complaint via their call centre, and the response was a simple "Please receive the the contact numbers for the Mead and Mcgrouther" - so that they could close the case.

Pathetic.
