Last year (October I think) there was a breach of security on absa's internet banking. I got a phonecall to say all platinum card holders must get new credit cards. the call was so unprofessional that i thought it was a hoax but the branch confirmed that it was true. the caller from credit card division asked me where I would like the card delivered and I said the Melville Branch. I was very worried because i was going overseas and needed my credit card. the assured me I would have my new card before I left (i.e. within 10 days). By the time I left the card was not ready. two month after the original call I got an sms saying my card was at Park Station. I phoned park station to say it was supposed to be at Melville they said they would send it to Melville. To date the card has not arrived. I would expect ABSA to take such a serious risk to its customers more seriously - taking 5 months with still no new card is a sign of how much the company cares about the security of its customers.
