We've had a problem paying our bond account for the past months due to job loss, and we made arrangements with the bank to pay lower installment on the bond. we tried paying it as agreed and the arrears came down from R17000 to R12000 but few months later we made defaults and the arrears went up to R17000 again and we made other arrangements but after this arrangement the arrears never came down they keep going up even if we are paying according to the aggreement. we called the bank and they put us through their legal department and when we asked why they told us that it's the lawyers charges and then I wanted to find out how much do their lawyers charge and they told me it depends on a lawyer who's dealing with the case at that time- so they charge different amounts. we continued paying, from R17000 the arrears went up to R20000 and the money we are paying covers the bond plus extra for the arrears but the arrears are still going up, I dont understand why is this happening or the aim is to take the house from us because we've tried everything to pay but it doesn't make any difference. i want to understand if this is how banks operate
