Rennies Travel
Proceeds of non refundable tickets - who benefits?

Emirates airline ticket for CPienaar to Nice departing 29 March purchased 12 February 2013.
Restrictions: no reservation changes / cancellations non refundable.

After the flight was paid for my daughter received an urgent request to report for work as a stewardess on a yacht 4 weeks earlier.

Requested Rennies Travel to please consider the circumstances and reschedule. Put on hold / hung up on / diverted to voice mail due to 'high call volumes'. Rennies returned calls once! Have spoken to Navubisa (spelling?), Refilwe and Madeleine. Advised that there were only business class seats available - (Pentravel advised otherwise). Rennies referred us to Emirates - we phoned and visited Emirates Durban office who referred us back to Rennies as they do not have access to Rennies systems.

We were forced to purchase another ticket. So who benefits from the R8352 hard earned money of a 20 year old? Rennies? Emirates? Who gets the benefit of re-selling that seat? Emirates? Rennies? Who benefits from the taxes paid?

My request: i) full refund, ii) refund less costs, iii) 12 month open ticket, iv) change ticket name.

If this was the CEO of a large corporate how would Rennies respond?
