Lost baggage on international flight

I flew on SAA on 18/12/13 from Cape Town to Johannesburg, the flight was late and we ran to catch a connecting flight to New York, JFK. My luggage was booked all the way from Cape Town to my final destination being St Maarten. SXM.
I suspect the baggage was left in JHB because of the short time between flights,
The luggage never arrived in N ew York. I was told to continue my trip and caught the JetBlue flight to St. Maarten.
I lodged a lost baggage claim in St Maarten but have been advised JetBlue is not part of the world trace system and one of my items does not show on the system at all. The second item was finally forwarded to me via Boston!
The lost item does not show on any system and I have been told I have to take the matter up with SAA as they lost it in the first place!
My baggage is obviously still lying somewhere in Johannesburg and has never been put onto the next flight. SAA is doing nothing about it!
I want my baggage back!!!
