I hold an Italian passport. When booking with Emirates they informed me that my Italian passport requires an ESTA which you just log on to the internet and apply there because certain countries don't require VISAS and Italy is one of them. Italy is part of the Visa Waiver Programme. I filled out all the necessaries and the website sent me confirmation basically welcoming me to the USA and that my application was SUCCESSFUL.
We arrived at the airport in Johannesburg and Emirates checked all our documentation including my ESTA confirmation and they said all was in order and issued me with my boarding pass from Joburg to Dubai AS WELL as my boarding pass from Dubai to New York (JFK). We left Joburg. We landed in Dubai and waited for our next flight. We then went to proceed about 2 hours later to board for New York and at the boarding entry they start interrogating my passport and were extremely rude and told us to step aside and take a seat. We watched the whole plane board and they denied me access because my Italian passport did not have a DIGITAL photo and sent me on the next plane back to RSA. WHY DID EMIRATES NOT PICK THIS UP BEFORE I LEFT FROM JOBURG. I Want to see what they do
