On Thursday, august 30th 2013, my husband and i took the 19:45 bus from midrand to pietermaritzburg. We sat at the bottom on the right hand side of the bus, in the front by the toilets. it was the most terrible trip and expirience we ever had. Every single time a passenger opened the toilet door after using it, a strong pungent odour of feaces would fill the entire bottom cabin, it was so bad that every passenger sprayed their perfumes, it brought such relief to our noses but after a while that odour just came back. we had to bare that smell for over 7 hours. We have used Intercape on many many occasions and even sat there before but never had an issue this severe and revolting before. When i travel such long distances, i want it to be comfortable and stress free, and lining my jacket and blanket with perfume is not what i call comfort. It is quite disgusting that something like this happened, especially when we are unable to open windows and get some much needed fresh air. On long trips many people, especially intercape passengers enjoy using that time to chat and listen to music and socialize but im sad to say the only relief on this trip was to TRY and sleep through it.
