I experienced a 6 hour delay on a Kulula flight out of East London on Wed 7 August. The explanation given was that an aircraft had to be turned around and landed because of a malfunctioning wing heater that de-ices the wing in cold conditions. Do Kulula not do routine maintenance on their aircraft? I find it completely unacceptable that an aircraft should have to land due to a malfunction - what if it was a more serious malfunction causing the aircraft to crash? This begs the question, 'do Kulula do preventative maintenance on their aircraft? ' I will be writing to the newspapers for further inquiry into this matter.
