Telkom broadband never delivers the speeds promise

I took up a DSL contract with telkom 6 months ago. I was promised that i would get speeds of 1Mbs. I accept the contract only on this basis.

Up till now I have been getting speeds of 0.3 to 0.7 and on the rare occasion 0.8.

I have called the call centre on numerous occasions to complain. On the last occasion the consultant told me that it depended how far I was from the exchange.

I then told her that i wanted to cancel my contract as this was a breach of contract. I was then told i would have to pay thousands in penalties.

Beware of getting locked into telkom's sneaky contracts.
