Telkom
Forcing an unwanted product

I placed an an order a standalone DSL line together with the compulsory telephony line on 25/10/2013. After endless attempts to get the line ported a technician finally sorted the problem on 09/11/2013. The general upgrade done on 11/11/2013 caused the line to fail because it's too far from the exchange to support a higher speed. Afrihost, account opened 31/10/2013, informed me the line has not been transferred to them yet so they were unable to solve the problem on my behalf. I went to the Telkom shop where the consultant informed me I could not possibly have internet because the order is still pending. I informed her that my ISP is not with Telkom, but she wasn't interested and started chatting to the consultant next to her. She then informed me to contact 10210 for the line setting. Soon after I received a confirmation that Telkom internet account is active. Why does Telkom want to force a package I do not want or need? All I ordered was a DSL line only. If the issue is not resolved and billing for the internet reversed immediately I'll have no issue reporting this to the consumer ombudsman.
