What happened to the Consumer protection act

21/12/2013 I bought a cell phone cover. I asked the sales person twice, whether it was ok to exchange the cover if it was incorrect. The next day I returned to the store to exchange the cover for the 2nd option, but it was R40 cheaper. MTN was absolutely adamant that they would not refund me, I needed to buy something for that value. What do you buy in an MTN shop for R40? They told me that at the bottom of their till slips it states that no cash refunds would be made. I argued that I paid by credit card and was happy with a credit card refund. Musa the manager in the store was not going to budge. MTN is a company that turns over Billions and they want to argue over R40, refund, which is legitimate. I left after 30min of total frustration. Eventually Musa called to say he got permission to refund me. If I was still in Sandton I could collect the money, otherwise the amount would be refunded to me, on my credit card. A month later and I have never received a refund. All it has done is left a very bad taste in my mouth. I was also in the market for a new cell phone contract. Guess what, I never went to MTN.
