Blackberry Q5 battery

I upgraded my phone last year July 2013 to the Blackberry Q5 because I had a good experience with the Curve. However in Nov 2013 that changed when the Q5's battery started acting up. Then it shows fully charged and 2 mins later it's on red. Then I plug it in and charge it, when I take it off charge it goes to red. I let it charge the whole evening and when I unplug the charger the battery icon goes red again. This continued for a couple of weeks. I took it into cell C and they sent it for repairs. I was told the phone just needs a software upgrade. On Tuesday I get my phone back after a month that it's been in for repairs. Wednesday the battery started doing the same thing again. I have to leave it plugged in at work?! When I unplug it, the battery icon goes red, then is shows half charged, then it shows fully charged!!! I call Cell C before contacting BB directly, I'm told that I should carry an extra battery with me because that's how the phone is made! That's rediculous. I'm paying for this phone, I'm not going to struggle like this. I want a new phone. How do you put a phone on the market and you can't use it unless it's on charge?!!!
