Evening Escalations team,
I have to log a call tonight for the same incident for which I have logged calls continuously for the past year.
This is our problem:
o Whenever it rains, we pick up a phenomenal amount of static on our voice line. Note, we also have DSL facility on our line.
o We then log a call with Telkom.
o An engineer is then dispatched after phoning and confirming the noise on the line.
o The engineer comes out, tests all our equipment and confirms an issue on the physical line.
o The engineer drives to the manhole on the corner of our block, tries in desperation to somehow re-join an apparently damaged or broken joint.
o Engineer comes back to test, informs us that the issue will be escalated to the cable jointers.
o The last engineer said there is a damaged joint that when it gets wet, causes the problems.
o Our once 10MB line (8MB up and just over 1.5MB down) line is once again now syncing at a lower speed.
o After every visit it decreases, first it went to 6MB and now we're on just over 4MB.
o The static/noise is gone until it rains again.
Please, we have logged and escalated this issue countless times - it is now again logged under ref 802CTK070114.
