Vodacom
Harassment for a 6 year old debt

I sequestrated in July 2008. Vodacom was one of the creditors. Six years later, I am harassed with one to two sms's PER DAY for the last SIX years. At a rate of 50c per sms x 400 sms's per year x 6 years, this equates to approximately R1200.00. REALLY??? Now, in their eternal wisdom, they have passed the baton to MBD. Why are these companies allowed to get away with it? As a matter of interest and I hope MANY people see this, there is something called the Prescribed Debt Act 68 of 1969, Section 10 (1) - in a nutshell, they may not collect the debt from you after three years - retail accounts, credit cards, Telkom accounts, personal loans, gym memberships, cellphone accounts, monies owed on vehicle finance ALL become prescribed after no payment was made or any summons issued within 3 consecutive years. Yet, they are allowed to harass me - there is no respect for the law any more. Oh yes, and next year, I am not staying home to pay my accounts in January - I am cancelling my debit orders and using the money to go to Mauritius - this is for all those institutions who decided to take debit orders for the 7th Jan on the 25th Dec. STOP HARASSING ME VODACOM.
