I had a Telkom line installed a while back. Unfortunately my account fell into arrears and i was in Debt R3000 and my line was cut. I totally understand this and willingly paid the arrears.

My final payment is due this month i wanted to apply again as the service was really good.
I have been told by the sales consultant over the phone that i would need to pay a R700 deposit in order to process a order and that is besides any line rental fee's.

I was told that due to me not fitting the credit criteria i need to pay this fee.
I think this is really unfair as my father just applied for his line and he is paying a straight fee for line rental and does not require this deposit.

If Telkom was not the monopoly of line providers i would go elsewhere. I am even prepared to have a debit order set up but i was told i cannot avoid this fee.

I feel so let down by telkom as i am facing the festive season with no internet.
