Insurance was never activated

Absalutely horrified, my worst nightmare. Recently purchased a samsung note and sony xperia z. When asked if we want insurance we said yes because we wont be able to replace a r10000 phone. The lady (samantha) stated that we should not be worried if the insurance does not show on the monthly statement, it is debited from the bank. The screen of my xperia recently got cracked and im unable to use it. I was not worried because I knew the insurance will cover it. When visiting the mtn branch where I took the contract from (zevenwacht mall) I was told that the insurance was never activated they will do a enquiry and inform me where the communication went wrong in the insurance activation. I wont be able to take insurance now on the phone and tablet as it is too late and it will cost R2500 to fix. Where do I get R2500? How can I be at ease walking around daily with R20 000 worth of technology that is not covered due to a internal communication problem by a telecommunications giant? Im stuck with a R10000 phone I cant use due to R2500 worth damages and paying monthly for a contract I cant use. I need insurance and I need a fixed phone. Please help!
