Cell C erected an ILLEGAL MAST on my neighbour's property in Observatory, Johannesburg.
No prior approval was sought from the City Council or the residents.
It is an unsightly thick black cylinder 14 metres high, crowned by a thicker black cylinder with a laughable rooster weather vane.
Only after the residents protests to the City Council, did Cell C submit an application, which has not been agreed to. To quote - "We have advised Brolaz (Cell C) that we are NOT recommending the type of mast for approval ..." - Sonja Pretorius, Operational Manager: Signage, Johannesburg City Council.
Yet Cell C has now arrogantly continued to work on the mast (adding a satellite dish), in contravention of all regulations / by-laws.
CELL C SHOULD BE FINED HEAVILY FOR IGNORING THE LAW AND THE COMMUNITY.
THE MAST SHOULD BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY.
I URGE PEOPLE TO WITHDRAW SUPPORT FOR THIS COMPANY, which uses such underhanded methods in their operations.
I wonder how many times they have got away with similar actions in this country!
