When I initially moved over to Afrihost I was very impressed with the service.
This was the best ISP I have ever worked with. I signed up with a 50GB capped account. Everything was awesome. I continually ran out of data and worked out that moving over to an uncapped account would be more financially viable for me. After enquiring about the uncapped services, Afrihost ensured me that ONLY P2P and DOWNLOADS are throttled during peak times. This sounded great as Im not a heavy downloader. Just the occasional game from Sony's Playstation network, apps from the Apple App store, songs and videos from youtube. I currently have a 4Mb account and every month use the same amount of data... around 120GB.
This is mostly from LIVE SERVICES. Streaming youtube, Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, online gaming, VPN support for my work, studying material for UNISA and day to day browsing.
Now, my complaint comes... Im being throttled from a 4Mbps account down to 57Kbps.
This is utter BS! Im not a heavy downloader. Maybe 10GB in a month. My browsing is dialup modem slow. And they say they do not throttle LIVE SERVICES!
Disgruntled...
