MTN - WHY CAN'T I BUY DATA USING AIRTIME ON TOPUP

I have an MTN top up 200 contract... I upgraded to a samsung S3 and thought i could use the R700 airtime I accumulated on my phone to buy data packages because this contract only provides 150 megs data. I was told i cannot do this i have to buy additional airtime to be able to buy data packages... what a load of ripoff!!!

My son and I also have contracts by Cell C and are both on control chat contracts - i receive 350 airtime every month and can buy data using this airtime... i don't have to buy more additional airtime like MTN wants me to do... On cell C you just press *147# and follow the prompts to buy data packages. Easy as pie. thank you Cell C.

MTN you can't!!! What a rip off... i pay R369 a month and still have to buy additional airtime now to be able to use extra data on this phone! What is the point... money making! This is not very affordable and you will loose all your clients if you continue down this path. I am very dissapointed in MTN as I have written them an email on the mtn site as well and no one responded to my email complaining about this. I will not recommend anyone to take out a mtn contract if this is how this is going to remain... cancelling!!!
