Trouble with new numbe

Three months ago I took a CellC contract, as their terms seemed attractive. I have had and still do have problems with recognition of the new number, which now commence 061 instead of 084. It took ages to get my bank to acknowledge the number, online it kept coming up as invalid. Now today trying to change my cell number on another site, I get requested to use a VALID (their capitals) number. It also took ages to get cellC 's own "My Tools" site to recognise the number, it kept on telling me the number was invalid. That has now been sorted but it took the best part of two months to do it. Why did CellC change from the well-known 084 numbers, and cause new clieents endless trouble and inconvenience.?
