MTN IS INCOMPETENT AND OWES US MONEY

The South African company my husband works for, seconded him to Canada. So he cancelled his MTN contract in August of last year at the MTN Service Center in Canal Walk. He was told that he likely would still be charged for the month which he expected. We returned to our secondment overseas. In January it became clear that MTN had not cancelled the debit order from their side and had been taking funds from our account every month. At this point my husband spoke to the bank and cancelled it from our side, also having them reverse the payments for December and January. All in, including bank costs for the reverse, MTN owe us R437. Of course once the money stopped coming in, someone finally started paying attention and they have now handed us, who have no contract with them, over to their lawyers for a cellphone number that doesn't exist in their systems anymore. Supposedly they are demanding we pay them just over R800 in interest and arrears. Their lawyers keep phoning my elderly mother-in-law and harassing her for payment and are no doubt ruining our credit history. SO MTN, I CAN PROVE WE CANCELLED THE CONTRACT.WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET YOU TO HONOUR THAT AND TO REPAY US MONEY OWED TO US?
