Cell C
Ridiculous Legal Action

My Cell C cell phone was in November 2011, as it was a secondary phone, I was unaware that it had been, and over a period of 2.5 days, the ran up a bill of R 61835.00. No they did not make international phone calls... they sent just under 32 000 SMS'S to two different competition lines at R 2.00 per SMS, at an average rate of 4 seconds per SMS. In meetings held with Cell C's accounts department they admitted that my SIM card had been used by a syndicate, and that it is NOT HUMANLY POSSIBLE to send an SMS every 4 seconds for more than 48 hours solid... Cell C has done NOTHING to investigate the that took place on my SIM, even though during my first meeting held with them, they undertook to have their department investigate my case, instead they have recently taken legal action against me... Even though I offered Cell C a settlement figure last year, they rejected it. The legal firm they have hired have a reputation of being 'cowboys', and they are clearly trying to drag this case out to ensure that they get the maximum billable hours out of Cell C. What I cannot fathom is why/how Cell C can justify/afford to spend in excess of R 100 000.00 for R62 000
