We have a contract with cell c wihich my 70 year old mom uses. After receiving a sim swap. We have had extremely irregular billings on the account. Suddenly this month we are billed for data. She does not have access to wifi. The 3G is switched off on the phone. At 03:00 one morning almost R400 of data was downloaded. HOW.

I tried to speak to customer service but as the contract is in my husbands name they refused to deal with me. He then logged a complaint online. They then proceeded to phone my mom and baffle her with technology. Strange how they won't deal with me because its my husbands contract but they will deal with my mom.

To cut a long story short. We were charged R774 this month for an account which usually cost between R250 - R300

I would like to know where this data is coming from and for what so that we can get to the bottom of this.

This contract is up for renewal and we are seriously considering moving to another service provider.
