I have just received a sms (ref. 1101052020).
This company contacted me on the 28th of January 2012 requesting outstanding payment for Health and Racquet Membership which have been taken over by Virgin Active.
I spoke to Margerate (a call centre agent), she then told me I had a signed a document entering into contract for 24 months in 1997, (16 years ago).
I paid this account up already in about 2001. I do not keep documents older than 5 years making it IMPOSSIBLE for me to prove I have paid this account, further more I have recently finished another contract with Virgin Active. Surely, Virgin active would not have offered me a contract had I had an outstanding balance for Health and Racquet.
I have been advised on the sms that I owe R4574.40, I refuse to pay this money again as I have paid them in full before they went into liquidation and were taken over by Virgin Active.
When I contacted the head office of JAM Attorney's, and asked to speak to someone, all the receptionist could tell me was to call the call centre there is no-one at head office to assist. I refuse to pay this money again!!!
