My husband and I joined Planet Fitness in 2009. After the reccession we were forced to go under Debt review. I did inform Planet fitness that we can no longer afford their services and sent through a letter of cancellation. In the last year 2012 I have been contacted by debt collectors saying I now owe them a ridiculous amount and that I will be taken to court should I not pay up. This is utterly pathetic as we were forced to go under debt review and we are still in the process of clearing our debt and Planet fitness wants to hold us liable for a service we were not using. Technically we are protected under the credit act and due to the fact that the debt is older than 3 years it should be cleared. I am sick of being threatened and will never refer planet fitness to anybody I come into to conact with. You guys are providing a service and should a member no longer need the service their should be an exit of the agreement, same as Multichoice, if its not paid its cut. I expect this matter to be resolved.
