When I signed my contract at planet fitness I was induced into doing it because the consultant misled me about a key term that I told him I wouldn't be prepared to sign the contract with out. When I discovered that he had misled me I went to confront him and he said he was sorry he had misled me but it was because he also didn't understand the term when he explained it to me and he would try to get the contract fixed to reflect the terms he had sold to me. I never heard from him again. I emailed management claremont and they didn't respond. I emailed head office and then management claremont called me in for a meeting. At the meeting they told me they were sorry and they take misrepresentation seriously (as they should according to the law) and they would cancel the contract for me. After that they emailed me saying they weren't going to cancel unless I could produce documentary evidence. I responded by pointing out that the Consumer Protection Act prohibits misrepresentation by "word or conduct" (s41) which by implication means there doesn't have to be documentary evidence. Management Claremont proceeded to ignore that email, it has now been over a month since I sent it.
