In February my wife and I returned a few items from a baby shower to the Edgars store in Kenilworth Centre Cape Town, the items were put onto our git card. About a week or two later we returned a baby carrier under R300. We then took a few other items and a Jeep baby carrier at the same store. The purchased was meant to be done on our baby gift card which we received at a baby shower, only to find when back home in Pretoria that all the items (value under R450) were instead placed on my account, depsite me giving the cashier both my account card and gift card. My gift card which I was about to throw away now still has a balance of over R200, according to Edgars in the Grove Mall.
I explained this to the customer service manager at the Grove Mall and was told that it could be my word against Kenilworth's (in other words i might not have given them my git card), in other words i could prefere getting into debt instead of using "free money". My account has had a nearly zero balance for a year or two before the purchase and at most i expected to pay a difference not the current balance. I would like the matter to be corrected ASAP or my wife and i will be closing both accounts.
