I had a written agreement with Woolworths Financial Services to settle arrears on my loan account, which agreement I have stuck to. I have in fact paid extra amounts monthly to settle the arrears as quickly as possible. After 20 years as a customer and after experiencing only courteous and professional service from Woolworths I suddenly started received threatening phone calls last week from a company calling themselves First Credit. I researched the name and it turns out there is no such company. Yesterday I received a letter from Munnik Basson etc attorneys re the same account demanding payment of outstanding amount (already paid). I also received another phone call today from First Credit. When I pointed out there was no such entity they advised suddenly that First Credit was a division of Munnik Basson etc. I have received no explanation from Woolworths in spite of an e-mail and phone call. They keep advising they will revert. I cannot understand how Woolworths could let a company as notorious as Munnik Basson terrorise its clients.
