Poor Quality Plants

I bought a cactus pot plant from the Woolworths at the Glen Village Centre just before Valentines Day. We followed the instructions in terms of location and water frequency and amount, but a month later the cactus has died. I have also previously bought fresh cut flowers from this store that just don't last.
