I have been shopping at the Bromhof Spar close to where I am staying for quite some time now, merely because it is so close to home and therefore convenient. I am however seriously considering never shopping there again, since this specific Spar is simply not on standard - not their prices, not their stock / variety of products and certainly not their bakery!
For the fourth time now, I bought some item from the bakery (this time it was a slice of chocolate mousse cake) which was rock hard and stale. On another occasion, I bought an entire cake, which was off and sour (my guests complained it tasted like paraffin). If this had happened just once, it would still be understandable, but it appears as though the bakery consistently offers bad and old foodstuffs. This is totally unacceptable and not compliant with the standard set by the Spar group.
In future, I would much rather drive a few kilometres further to a Woolworths or PnP, than waste my time and money buying rancid food from Spar Bromhof.
