I walked into CNA, Cape Gate to buy a scientific calculator. I saw two types of calculators hanged on the shelf, with the same brand indicating the price as R228.00 on both calculators. On my way to the tills I spoke to the branch manager, Mr Jonathan Paulse and asked him what the differences are between the two calculators. He explained to me the one scientific calculator is a more upgraded version than the other. I took him to the shelf and indicated to him that the price on both calculators indicates R228.00. He walked to the till point and checked the price on both calculators where the price of the one calculator scanned R228.00 & R275.00 individually. I told him as a customer the price I see on the shelf is the price the customer pays. I explained to him that I cannot be held liable if the staff indicated the wrong price on the product and also advised him that the price of the 2nd calculator does not even indicates on the shelf. He still refused to
give the calculator at price indicated on the shelf. This is not acceptable to me. I know at other retail stores, eg. Pick& Pay & Woolworths, should the item price display incorrectly, the customer receive that product free.
