I just visited Pick n Pay at Princess Crossing and after doing my shopping (which consisted of 2 x candles and a Raid electric diffuser) I proceeded to the check out counter. I went to the Cigarette Kiosk as I needed to purchase a carton of cigarettes as well. As I approach the counter, two Pick n Pay staff members was busy purchasing R35 MTN airtime. The cashier immediately turned and told me "I'm closed, YOU people must go there" and she pointed to the normal retail counters. I told her I need cigarettes and she just again rudely told me to go there, pointing again. I went to the normal tills, paid for my shopping, requested the cigarettes (which had to be fetched from the kiosk in any case) and asked to speak to a manager who said she will speak to her. As I passed the kiosk it was clear she was open as she was assisting three African gentlemen with much more shopping than what I had. This is not acceptable. Why does color of skin, make my money less acceptable. goes in all directions and I am surely disappointed that Pick n Pay has staff members that is still living in such a pathetic way.
