Vibram FiveFingers falling apart

My son spent R1200 on a pair of Vibram FiveFingers shoes and wore them on a 5 day trip on the Orange River and they are falling apart.
I have sent an email to the company but have had no response.
There is a warranty applicable.
We cannot go back to the shop in St Lucia where we bought the shoes because they are too far and we were only there as a holiday destination.
