CAT Shoes FALLING APART

Bought a pair of Caterpillar shoes at Tekkie Town, Bellville for R1'000.
Unfortunately you pay for quality, fortunately we have the knowledge to do so. Being the only breadwinner for my mom and little brother, I save up & pay R1'000 for Caterpillar footwear so I have new shoes. My previous CAT's lasted me 3.5 years!
This time the shoe falls apart. I call the distributer (Medicus shoes in Port Elizabeth), explain my problem, they say I should send it in so they can check, it takes 2 weeks.
This is my only shoes that I have left.
I left it there. How bad can it be?
After almost a year the shoe looks bad and shows that it will last only another 6mnths or so till replacement.
I phone Medicus and they inform me that unfortunately there is only a 6MONTH GUARANTEE ON THE BRAND!
These shoes are synonymous with the construction machinery name yes?
I payed R1'000 for these shoes.
