In October 2013 I came to Knysna on Holiday and my boyfriend and I had some tinned oysters from Woolworths. That night we both got violantly sick, I had to be take to a local hospital overnight. The doctor confirmed food poisoning. We have complained to Wollworths, produced the remains of the tin at their request. We were told that John West company will be investigating as they are the producers, not Woolworths. At that the Woolworths has washed their hands off us. John West sent us a reply saying they cannot make any conclusions and gave us R50 voucher. The product was not expired, we bought it from Woolworths in good faith hoping they check what they sell to the public. We did not go directly to John West and I don't see why we should have been passed on to them at all. My faith in Woolworths is shattered, I used to trust them to be a reliable retailer, now I know they are not. I am actually disgusted with Woolworths. I have had better response from other companied when complained about lesser issues.
