Non-delivery of ordered item and cancellation

I ordered a tablet for my child and it was to be delivered in 24 hours. this did not happen instead i got a mail saying they are out of stock. i was shocked that they could even sell an items they do not have. this was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my child and i still do not have it. i called just now to check when it will be delivered and the guy on phone, Reginald, said they will have it in perhaps a months time. he then cancelled my ordered without me asking him to do so. The annoying part is that i will get my money next week and my child is coming back on Saturday. how do i get a gift for her then if i will only get payment next week. what good does the cancellation do for me. he now cannot reverse the cancellation. i am really not impressed and do not see myself going back to kalahari. FNB needs to consider taking them off as a partner because they indirectly taint FNB's name considering that we buy through marketing that FNB holds up for them.
