I am an Edcon employee working at Jet. I am a married woman and have been married to my husband for a long time, but changed my surname to my husband's recently. I took out a funeral policy from Edcon covering myself, my husband, my children, my parents-inlaw and my husband's siblings. My husband's surname is different from his father's. When my father in law passed on in July 2013 I reported and claimed from Edcon. I was told that I will not be paid unless I give proof (explanation on why my husband's surname is different from his father's). I wrote affidavits, obtained a letter from home affairs, but nothing was accepted by Edcon up to todate. I feel I am being taken for ride because Edcon should have told me from the start if I was not supposed to cover people with differing surnames. Please help.
