I write to complain about the outcome of my clothing credit account application. I applied for an account at Jetmart Store at Bosman Mall in Pretoria at athe end of August. They took a week to come back to me with a response and it was not until I made a follow up that I was told to resubmit my passport again. I did and after two days I was told that my applacation had been declined and as is the norm they did not disclose their reasons for that decision. My worry is that I did not have a credit history in South Africa but I operate a normal banking account with Standard Bank and am a Prestige banking client. I am professionally, permanently and gainfully employed and I hold a valid quota work permit. I was never borrowed before and I feel that lack of credit history should not deny me an account. I feel that maybe they should have given me a lower limit to begin with and judge my account conduct as we establish the relationship rather than an outright rejection. It would seem as if I have a bad credit history yet I was only trying build a relationship and credit history. I wonder how the credit risk analysis was conducted but I feel that it leaves a lot to be desired!
