This particular checkers was truly the black sheep of the family until the revamp on the centre. It was then transformed into a wonderful checkers like other supermarkets in busier centres. With the addition of Dischem they had a winning formula and it looked really good until... I noticed the decline about a month ago... out of stock, rotten fruit and veg, veg fridge that's warm, disinterested staff...
I understand that the statistics for this store were probably very bad to begin with. All in the area with a vehicle would much rather shop elsewhere. Personally I love the Checkers at Gateway. They always have a good variety and it's fresh. We all thought that had changed with Overport. Very disappointed to see that instead of climbing they are deteriorating and will probably find themselves in square one. I for one will go back to Gateway and Pick n pay at Musgrave where I know I will get everything I need and fresher. Truly a shame to see them sabotaging themselves.
It would be wonderful if they stopped making excuses (I have heard some when i complained in store) and rectified everything... Wonderful for them and wonderful for us...
