How many of us really check our E statements? Truthfully I don't, but last month I don't know why, I opened up the statement and saw a purchase for over R2000, Now we only have 30 days to dispute the statement. This was the beginning of one big eye opener.
On 12th July I bought my daughter a dress, the size was not correct and on the 19th July she took it back to Menlyn and exchanged it. She only had the receipt as I hold the card. The exchange was done efficiently, What we didn't know was that 90 mins later a manual transaction sale of R2038.80 was put on my account.
I went to my nearest Edgars to log my dispute and to be honest the customer service is shocking, I then called Menlyn direct and spoke to the Accounts manager who was very helpful and called me within 10 mins as he found the transaction docket. The cashier who did the exchange was the same one who processed the transaction. I cannot believe a sale was processed without a card. On the positive side, the dispute was dealt within 10days, BUT, no apology or explanation, nothing.
