So I was in Pick n pay earlier to do my grocery shopping and I was shocked at the pathetic level of customer service. I've been told that the new practice at pick n pay is for the customer to perform debit card transactions on their own. Apparently its to prevent!!??? Ridiculous!!! So in any case this was my experience... We went through to the teller, Portia, to pay for our items, noticed that she was engrossed in reading her pick n pay advertisement paper. She rang up the items, asked us to insert the card into the card machine, as we proceeded to perform the transaction, she continued to read her paper... no acknowledgement of the customer at all. I felt that I needed to speak to the manager bout this lack of customer service. His blank faced reply was ''I will speak to the staff about being interactive.' No help at all!!!
