Incorrect pricing

I went to the Makro store to buy a battery operated salt and pepper set. The price on the shelf was R259.00.
When I went to pay the priced scanned was R299.00.

I asked to see a manager and when enquired about Massmart scanning policy was told there is none.

I was then given a R50.00 "discount"

No one at the store could tell me what the scanning policy is which I find unacceptable.

It is not the customers responsibility to ensure that prices match.
