Today I purchased 2.5 kg of flour. There were two prices displayed for the same packaging being R21.95 and R16.95, both with the same bar code.
I checked the price rung up at the till and not unexpectedly the higher price was charged. The cashier then sent one of numerous loitering staff to check the displayed price, and no surprise, the staff member returned and said the higher R21.95 price was correct. I was forced to go into the shop to fetch the price display showing R16.95 myself.
I can find no other explanation other than a planned attempt to confuse and customers! This one I found, but how many millions go unnoticed.
The Manager had all sorts of excuses and blame for everyone except himself.
I rejected his offer to supply the one item at no charge. I shall simply vote with my feet and wallet.
I suspect the competitors have the same dishonest policy, but until they get caught, they are innocent.
