Edgars funeral policy FAILURE

My Gran (G) passed away 3 weeks ago. I knew she had a funeral policy with Edgars. When my mother died without a plan, the first thing G did was take one out at her local Edgars. She was sold a plan, signed all the paperwork and on she went, happy in the knowledge that she was covered. We never gave it another thought. When I called to enquire about it, I'm told they can see G had a plan, but G cancelled it. After much back and forth, I'm told the actual reason there's no plan is that G was never entitled to it because she was over 65 when she took it out. They say "no payment was taken, there is no policy, so, terribly sorry, but there's nothing we can do". My G paid her monthly fees to Edgars for the past 5 years believing she was paying for a funeral policy they sold her. The fact that this was not the case is beyond disgusting. I am horrified. Had she known she was not entitled to a funeral plan, we would've made other plans. She should never have been sold the plan, she should've been told she was not eligible for it. No other outcome is acceptable. I hold Edgars responsible for the grievous error and I expect to hear back with all due remorse and intentions to compensate.
