I recently visited Checkers Sandton City where I always stock up on some of the great selection of wines. Having recently thoroughly enjoyed a specific bottle of Odd Bin, I was circling the Odd Bin shelf trying to locate it. Luthando, the packer responsible for the department must have seen me and came to ask if he could help. I told him what I was looking for and he informed me that they were unfortunately all out of stock, but that he'll go to the back to see if he can find me some stock. After some time he returned with the bad news that they arel really all out of stock, but that he will take my number and give me a call when he receives more stock. I left slightly frustrated and didn't expect to hear back.
Sure enough I got a friendly call this morning that he's just received new stock and has kept a box of the wine especially for me. What a great surprise! I went by the store after work to find Lothando, very friendly, with my wine waiting already packed.
Lothando has really taken ownership of my issue and resolved it without it probably being one of his responsibilities. I really feel that you should make this guy your new store manager!
