I was wanting to purchase a gift voucher for one of our staff members and went to the Pick 'n Pay in town. Having stood in a queue for more than 15 mins, I eventually paid for my few items and then asked the cashier for a gift voucher. She said I must go to the Customer Service counter. However, I stood there for a while as there was no one at the counter. A lady who worked in the store, came passed and asked if she can help. I told her I need to purchase a gift voucher. She gave me a blank one and told me she can't process it and I would have to stand in the queue again. I said no I wouldn't because I had already stood in that queue and was told to come to the Customer Services counter. She then told me to pay at the Cigarette counter. Another long queue and this cashier then tells me she is not taking payments today because she is doing pension fund payouts. I then asked the floor manager what to do and he told me to back into the now even longer queue. So, if you aren't wanting to collect your social grant or pension fund at Pick 'n Pay today - stay away! I went to Spar and got my gift voucher within 5 minutes. Pick 'n Pay, you are loosing focus on what your store is all about.
