my sister's daughter that had an account with Woolworths. now is no longer (passed away). my elder sister went to report the matter to them, for them to stop interest and maybe cancel the card. instead she was told that they need the balance on account be paid in three months.

my question is: who should pay the balance? aren't they suppose to scratch everything?
